Latino Leadership has received training by the Moffitt Cancer Center to use the Moffitt Breast and Cervical Cancer Toolkit, to disseminate valuable information about breast and cervical health to Latinas and other minorities in Central Florida.

As a collaborative effort between the Moffitt Cancer Cancer and the Florida Department of Health, the Toolkits were developed to address health disparities within African-American and Latino communities in the areas of breast, cervical, and prostate cancer.

The goal of the Breast and Cervical Cancer Toolkit Project is to provide community representatives with culturally and literacy appropriate information to educate members of their family and communities.

Latino Leadership trained lay health promotors use easy to read and visually appealing Spanish-language flipchart, DVD with testimonials about the importance of breast and cervical cancer screenings, tip sheets listing cancer resources, as well as brochures to make meaningful connections with charla participants, stressing the importance of early detection.

If you and your social/religious group would like a Latino Leadership health promotor to host a charla on breast and cervical cancer, call 407-895-0801. We are able to travel to your location.

Remember, EARLY DETECTION IS KEY! Join us in being proactive, not reactive.
