At Latino Leadership our motto is "reaching out to our people through knowledge." For this reason, we identify with Fifth Third Bank's objectives in relation to financial literacy. Increasing the financial literacy of our Latino families is especially important since frequently, limited experience with available financial tools, language barriers to banking services, and complex financial decision decrease access to financial freedom. I look forward to working with Fifth Third Bank to empower our families in Central Florida.
The first workshop "Credit Repair" was held Saturday, June 6th at the Southeast Branch of the Orange County Library System.
More than 30 people joined Fifth Third Bank and Latino Leadership for the first in the "Planeando sus suenos" financial literacy series. These individuals spent more than two hours learning how to maintain good credit. Pictured here are individuals signing in for the charla.

On Thursday, September 10th Latino Leadership and Fifth Third Bank hosted the second workshop in the Planning For Your Dreams series.

Tom Jimenez is seen here speaking to those in attendance about the importance of saving money even in these tough economic times. He taught participants ways to save money without money. There are simple changes we can all save money. $5 a day is $150 a month! Think about that daily cup of coffee.

From Red to Black: Taking Control of Your Future:
The last quarter of 2008 was a major wake-up call for many people. Individuals who thought their finances were secure faced a disastrous wake-up call. Imagine this wake-up call amplified in communities where financial literacy is not readily available.
Enter From Red 2 Black. This initiative aims to cut through the apprehension and mystery surrounding personal finances. From Red 2 Black works with young adults, aged 18-34, who are entering the workforce, faced with student/vocational debt and looming bills.
In a classroom setting, with a qualified moderator, participants work through the financial situations that arise when entering the workforce. This initiative documents the process of getting From Red 2 Black.
