Latino Leadership’s ¡Adelante! America with AT&T and LULAC initiative provides leadership opportunities to moderately at-risk students who require extra guidance and mentorship to successfully complete high school.

With established community partnerships, Latino Leadership targets at-risk 8-10 graders, highlighting the importance of education through the development and cultivation of optimism, resilience and academic excellence.

Using examples of community empowerment, ¡Adelante! provides participating students with positive alternatives to gangs, violence, and dropping out of school. Technology is infused throughout the course of program by incorporating the use of blogs.

Key components of the ¡Adelante! America with AT&T and LULAC are recruitment, Engage meet-ups, Global Civis service project, and the leadership conference. All components of the ¡Adelante! Initiative will collectively empower participants to:

1. Increase rates of on-time promotion to the next grade;

2. Improve the academic performance of the students as measured by grades and test scores;

3. Improve interpersonal relationships between the children and their peers, teachers, other adults, and family members;

4. Reduce the dropout rate;

5. Reduce juvenile delinquency and involvement in gangs by the youth; and

6. Achieve the target graduation rate for its participants.
